How to apply for a valid Missouri Driver's License:
Written and vision tests must be taken before
a Missouri Driver's License can be issued, if you have a valid out-of-state license
to surrender.
Tests are taken at the Spirit Building, Hwy.
152, west of Gary Crossley Ford in Liberty, MO, Friday only 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. (closed
for lunch noon to 1 p.m.). Tests are also given at 310 NW Englewood Road, Englewood
and Broadway near Q-Trip Store and Donovan's in Gladstone, MO, Monday through Friday
7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Phone 889-3913.
After testing, the Driver's License is issued
at the State License Bureau, 2029 West Kansas, I-35 and 152 Hwy., Liberty Commons
- K-Mart Shopping Plaza next to Carlito's Restaurant, Liberty, MO. They are issued
six days a week, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The vision tester is at
lunch from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
How new residents obtain Missouri Titles and Licenses for their Motor Vehicles:
These items are needed before an owner can title
and license a vehicle in the State of Missouri. It should be done as soon as residency
is established.
1. The original title -- If a lienholder has
your title, bring your out-of-state registration or copy of title. Need complete
address of lienholder.
2. An inspection of your vehicle -- available
at places that display a sign designation of an official vehicle inspection station.
3. A tax waiver must be obtained from the Collector's
Office of the County you live in. In Clay County it is located in the Courthouse
on the Square in Liberty. First visit the Assessor's Office and then the Collector's
Office on the first floor of the Courthouse to obtain this waiver. Take your out-of-state
title or registraiton.
4. Current mileage on your vehicle.
5. Date Missouri residency was established to
determine month plates to be issued.
6. Someone whose name is on the title has to
sign the papers.
Bring all of the above items to the Liberty License
Bureau located at 2029 West Kansas, I-35 and 152 Hwy., Liberty Commons Shopping Center
- K-Mart Shopping. Hours are Monday through Friday
9 a.. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
Personal checks are accepted at the Liberty License Bureau. The name on the check
has to be the same as on the title, Missouri banks only and if paying sales tax,
must be within 30 days of purchase.
